THE LATEST ATTRACTION ON “THE FARMERS’” ROOF
This miniature locomotive, which is perfect in every detail, will run every day under steam on tne Farmers’ Trading Company's roof. It will be in charge of Mr. G. G. Buick, of Christchurch, who spent five-and-a-half years of leisure time constructing this fine working model. The engine is 7£ft. long and weighs about lOcwt. It has 12in. driving wheels, siin. bogies, cylinders 2Mn. bore, 4hn. stroke and boiler pressure 2001 b. as tested and passed by the local Government Inspector of Machinery. It is fitted with Walseliaert’s valve gear, and the gauge is loin., which is the standard for miniature railways. This engine was only recently completed, and is now being exhibited for the first time in Auckland. A railway track has been laid on The FARMERS’ roof—the rails having been loaned by The Kauri Timber Company—and the engine will be operated daily by Mr, Buick.
