An Asbestos Mat
It is an extravagant Dr act ice to light up the gas oi'en to cook: one small dish. On the other hand, without the use of the oven menus are apt to become monotonous. But few people realise that with the aid of one or two asbestos 7tuits the baking of small dishes mag be accomplished over the gas rings. If you wish to bake some potatoes or a couple of apples, place them in a tin with the asbestos mat between the latter and the gas-ring and then invert another baking-tin over the top like a hat. Even milk puddings will cook on top in the same way, but a tin plate should take the place of the asbestos mat. Then, of course, everyone should possess a gas-ring cake baker. The special tin is lined with asbestos and arranged for the level distribution of heat. The cake-tin goes inside the cake- baker and a lid fixes over the top.
