AT BROWN’S BAY
NEW YEAR’S “HONOURS” Tha holiday-makers at Brown’s Bay and the surrounding districts celebrated New Year’s Eve with originality and a very jolly party. The Picture Theatre and Cabaret, beautifully decorated for the occasion, was packed with visitors from Brown’s, Campbell’s and Murray’s Bays and Deep Creek, and an excellent programme was put on for their ente--tainment. On the stroke of midnight the Old Year (Mr. A. Hill) passed through the hall to deafening cheers and “Auld Lang Syne.” He was followed by “1928," who was attended by her maids of honour, Summer, Autumn, Winter and Spring. A grand march followed, after which “1928” mounted a dais and delivered her proclamation. She then conferred the New Year honours on the chosen guests. The Frothblowers’ Anthem was sung with the greatest of seasonal enthusiasm and closed the evening’s entertainment. Miss Dorothy Bainbridge, of Devonport, took the part of “1928," and her maids of honour were the Misses Maud McCoU, A. Paine and Jones. .
