DEATH AT DEVONPORT

MR. JAMES BUCK A former officer of the New Zealand Railways Department passed away yesterday, in the person of Mr. James Buck, who had lived in retirement at Devonport for the last 15 or 16 years The late Mr. Buck was stationmaster at Woodville and Masterton before being transferred to Auckland about 30 years ago. He quitted the railway service to take over the Central Hotel, Auckland. Subsequently he resided in Sydney. Mr. Buck, who was born in Sunderland, England, came to New Zealand as a lad, and he married in Dunedin 52 years ago. During his residence at Devonport he lived with his daughter, Mrs. E. W. Sharp. He was a familiar figure to cricketers, being a strong supporter of the North Shore Club.
