NATIONAL
THE ROYAL SUNBEAMS The Royal Sunbeams, now at the National, appear in one of the moat novel and interesting entertainments which lias been seen here. The youngsters win all hearts from the moment the curtain rises on the opening chorus, “Hullo, New Zealand.” Jackie Clarke has made many appearances In Auckland, but since appearing here last ne has widened his experience of •acting” to a degree that is astounding. His irresistible and perfectly natural drollery have made him a very big favourite. Along with Baby Doreen, he appears in a delightful little sketch, “The W r ooing of Baby Doreen,” and the .pair capture all hearts. Later, leading the ballet in “The Black Bottom,” Jackie again demonstrates his versatility. But these two are by no means the whole show. Alice Johnson leads the Radiant Ballet perfectly in “Hello, Cutie,” and Gwen Jones has a fantastic dance that brings down the house. The Acrobatic Sunbeams may safely be described as a “riot,” to use a theatrical term. Comprised of some half-dozen shapely young misses, from almost babyhood to lively middle teens, these girls are utterly astounding in the stunts they perform—stunts that put the average circus acrobat to shame. Strong in vocalists, the star in this section is Harry Ussher, whose “Baby, Your Mother,” never fails to secure him recall aJter recall. The Sunbeams will present an all-new revue on Thursday afternoon, together with a new complete picture programme,
