A BRIGHT DANCE Mr. and Mrs. W. Gomas, of “Yvonne/* Elizabeth Street, Dominion Road, held a very successful little dance in the Dominion Road Hall this week in honour of the coming of age of their youngest daughter Dorothy. Streamers of blue and silver were festooned around the hall and made a charming canopy of colour in the sup-per-rooom. The decorative scheme on the tables was a pretty one of blueand silver, with a daintily-iced birthday cake set in the centre. The Olympian Orchestra played a selection of excellent dance music, and Mr. F. Farrell, of the Auckland Sports Club, in presenting Miss Gomas with a large chocolate key, made a gracious speech of goodwill and congratulations to her. The guest of honour was the recipient of many beautiful presents. Mrs. Gomas received her guests wearing an attractive frock of mastic crepe d.e chine, with an overdress of cream lace. Miss Dorothy Gomas wore a frock of powder-blue taffeta with bodice of silver sequins. Her frock was finished with a bouffant bow. Among the guests were:

PUPIL HONOURED MISS PELITA GROVES A charming morning tea party was given at the Tudor Rooms yesterday by Madame Edith Baird, in honour of her talented pupil and protegee, Miss Pelita Groves, who has just been successful in passing a very difficult educational and practical dancing examination, in which she secured a diploma with high honours fo.r her comprehensive technical knowledge. Mrs. Victor Macky, who was one of tho guests, read out the report that the judges had sent Madame Baird on Pelita’s work, complimenting her on her pupil, and saying that they were astounded at the comprehensiveness of tho pupil’s knowledge of the history of dancing as well as her thorough command of its technique. Madame Baird received her guests wearing an attractive gown of fringed black georgette and a black picture ha t. Miss Groves wore a rose and white patterned frock and a rose hat. Dr. Mildred Staley presented Pelita with the diploma and made a charming speech of congratulation to her and to Madame Baird. SILVER WEDDING CROQUET AFTERNOON On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the wedding of Mrs. C. J. Schnauer, the members of the Onehunga Croquet Club held a most enjoyable afternoon on the lawns. Mrs. A. Kenny, vice-president, on behalf of the members, presented Mrs. Schnauer with a case of silver spoons. The prizes for progressive croquet were won by Mrs. Craig in the A grade and Mrs. Mackenzie in the B grade; lowest score, A grade, Mrs. Bvitt; lowest score, B grade, Mrs. Collin; the prize for the hidden number went to Mrs. Parr. A delicious afternoon tea was served. The tables were artistically decorated by Mrs. Kirk in pink and silver. In tho centre of the table there stood a wedding cake, above which was a large white bell decorated in silver. During the afternoon the members took the opportunity of presenting the mother of the club, Mrs. Jones, with a chubby umbrella.
