PERMISSABLE BY LAW ROTORUA DECISION (From Our Oxen Correspondent) ROTORUA. To-day. The refusal of the Rotorua Borough Couneil to grant permission for Sunday evening dances at the Fairy Springs Hall led to an appeal to law on the subject. The case recently came before Mr. W. G. K. Kenrick. S.M., and he reserved his decision. Yesterday he gave his opinion on the subject, saying: ‘lf the council can see no reason for refusing a licence for six days of the week to hold dancing, a refusal for the seventh day can only be to enforce to some degree Sunday observance —a very laudable reason, and on which a i large number of the public agree with. ’Unfortunately, it does not come within ; the limited class of condition provided in section 3. namely, ‘safety of the public.' lam obliged, therefore, to find tha . condition attached to the licence proiiiibiung Sunday dancing invalid-”
