BURNS PROVE FATAL

MYSTERIOUS FIRE (Special to THE SUN.) CHRISTCHURCH, Friday. Mrs. Mar Ann Murphy, aged 73, died in the Public Hospital on November 11 from heart failure, aggravated by burns and shock received as the result of a mysterious outbreak of fire in her home in William Street on November 6. At the inquest, which was held today, Patrick Murphy, husband of deceased, said he was awakened by the sound of falling glass. When he opened the door flames burst into the room, coming from the direction of the kitchen. He managed to get out by the window. Witness, with help, got his wife out of the bedroom, but she was burned by the flames. The medical evidence was that death was caused by heart failure, aggravated by burns. Deceased was suffering from chronic bronchitis, in addition to burns. The coroner, Mr. E. D. Mosley, S.M., returned a verdict in accordance with the medical evidence.
