ALTERATIONS MADE Competition is keener, for places on the Auckland ladders this season. In the mens singles, A. 8. Lamb challenged and beat I-I. C. Rowlands for 12 th place, 6—4, 4—6, 6 —4, and Chalmers won his place at the bottom of the status by defeating the 16th man, I-I. O. Thompson, 6 —3, 7 —5. In the men’s doubles Hubble and Turner defeated the Stedman brothers S’—lo, 6—4, 7—5, and Lamb and Horne had a walk-over against Knott and Sturt. The positions of players on the doubles ladders are as follow: Men. —Bartleet and Robson, 1: Griffiths and Brinsden, 2; Johns Bros., 3; Lamb and Horne, 4; Knot and Sturt, 5; Tonk and Macfarlane, 6; Turner and Hubble, 7: Stedman Bros., S: Robinson and Williamson, 0; Potter and McKeown, 10; Hickson and Williams, 11. Women. —Misses Colebrook and Knight, 1: Misses Witherow and Ramsay, 2; Misses Macfarlane and Mrs. Robson, 3; Mrs. Scott-Watson and Miss Whitelaw, 4; Misses Bryant, 5: Misses Aiser and Sturt, 6: Miss K. ■Woods and Mrs. A. In the two outer-suburban matches played up to the present, Papakura is the only club who has won both matches in the A and B grades. Papatoetoe and Valley are next on the list, having lost one each, the former in the B grade and Valley in the A grade. In the next round, to be played on December 17. Papatoetoe and Papakura cross rackets, and a good match is expected between the two unbeaten teams in the A grade. “We should have done this long ago,” said the president of the L.T.A., Mr. E.
