NEW SWIMMING POOL AT ST. CUTHBERT’S
OPENING IN FORTNIGHT Tlie finishing touches are at present being applied to the new swimming baths at St. Cuthbert’s Girls’ College, and they will be officially opened on December 15. The baths involved an expenditure of £6,000, and are equipped in the most modern manner. The original scheme covered a bath of more moderate dimensions, but owing to the generosity of two shareholders of the college, Miss Runeiman and her niece, who contributed £6,000, the baths have been built on a more pretentious scale. The length of the baths is 65ft, and the depth of the water varies from 3ft to about Bft 6in. A plant has been installed for filtering, aerating, inating and heating the water, this alone placing the bath as one of the finest of its kind in the Dominion. : Provision has also been made for the ! cleaning of the sides and the bottom j of the baths by electricity.
