ARRANGEMENTS COMPLETED SUMMER CARNIVAL PROSPECTS Thousands of radio fans will be pleased to learn to-day that arrangements have beer? made;' to broadcast the Takapuna,; J6c]sey Club’s race meeting this weekend. have been many anxious in- '** quiries as to whether this was to be done and both the Takapuna Jockey Club and the Had jo Broadcasting Company are to be congratulated upon haying come to an agreement. Racing nowadays has a very Jarge following, and •eyCn those who do not patronise the meetings a~e interested in the vivid descriptions of the various contents and anxious to. learn a good deal about the sport. Broadcasting is one of the most valuable aids to popularise racing, and the fear of some clubs that the broadcasting of their meetings would materially affect the attendance must surely by jio\v be proved ,a fallacy.. WILL BRItyQ OWN REWARD No doubt the Takapuna Jockey Club is fully aware of the value of this medium for encouraging the numerous listeners .-in to take ap intelligent interest in racing, and such assistance on the part of club's cannot fail to bring its own reward. It is hoped to have a big broadcasting week during the summer racing and trotting carnival in Auckland, Similar to that .which was such a pronounced success in Christchurch recently, and all listeners-in who are unable to be present at these meetings at Ellerslie and Alexandra Park are hoping that the lead given in the past by the Auckland Racing Club and now by the Takapuna Jockey Club will lead to definite arrangements being made for the future.
