WEEK-END RESULTS (From Our Own Correspondent 1 WAIHI, Monday. Bowling.—An inter-club match between teams representing Waihi Bowling Club and Faeroa Club was played on the Waihi green on Saturday, resulting in a win l’or Waihi. The aggregate scores were Waihi 192, Faeroa 137, leaving a margin, in Waihi’s favour of 55 joints. The team scores are as follow, the Faeroa team joeing mentioned first in each game:—Perston, Smith, Be Castro, W. N. Chamberlain, 19, v. Botterill, Pringle, McPherson, Mannix, 29; M. H. Williams, 11, v. Mullins, Bunstan, Farrell, Paul, 23; Alexander, Vowles, Hamilton, Mettam, 12, v. Speak, Shergold, Hutchinson, Mcßermott, 40; Brocket, Ellis, Marsh, Wilkinson, 21, v. Cricket.—The first round of the Waihi cricket championship was completed on Saturday, when Mataura beat City and Martha beat Teachers. In the Mataura v. City game City had a lead of 60 runs in the first innings, but in the second knock failed before the bowling of Henry and Berry (Henry took four for 4), and Mataura scraped home by S runs. Martha proved too good for Teachers and outclassed the dominies by an innings and 100 runs. The positions of the teams in tho league chart are as follow: Martha, 6 points; Teachers, 4; Mataura, 2; City, 0. Boxing.—Since the annual meeting of the Waihi Boxing Association, the noble art has taken on a new lease of life in the district, and with the promise of a tournament in December about 20 boys have started training in Tanner’s gym. Secretary Holt has arranged an attractive programme between teams of Waihi and Te Aroha boxers, and everything else looks promising for a good night’s sport.
