RELEASE OF SLATER BILL IN HOUSE OF COMMONS By Cable. —Press Association. — Copyright. LONDON, Wednesday. In connection with the recent release from Peterhead prison of Oscar Slater, who served over 18 years of a sentence of imprisonment for life, after his conviction on the charge of murdering Miss Gilchrist, in Glasgow, the Secretary of State for Scotland, Sir John Gilmour, has introduced the Bill he promised into the House of Commons. The measure provides for the reference of the case to the Criminal Appeal Court in Scotland. The Bill passed its first reading.—A. and N.Z.
