Light drizzling rain made conditions unpleasant at Riccarton, but did not seriously affect the outside of the course proper, on whiclr all fast gallops were done. Miss Mercia went half a mile easily in 52. Agrion, brought home by Lucinda, ran a mile in 1.47 2-5. Shirley went five easily in 1.4 3-5 and Tiega nine in 2.3. Gascony and Benzora beat Joy King and Kiosk over half a mile in 48 2-5, and Limerick ran half a mile in 49 4-5. BEST OF THE MORNING Childsplay ran half a mile in 47 4-5, the best of the morning. Paperchase beat Centrepece over seven in 1.31, Nincompoop and Battle Colours ran seven in 1.32, Battlement finished in front of Beacon Light over a mile and a-half in 2.43, Kenmore went six in 1.20, and Silver Coot and Noteworthy half a mile in 50 2-5. Bennanee and Doree beat Yoma (with a big weight) over nine in 1.59 4-5. Rapier and Te Monanui beat Star Stranger, with David Garrick further back, at the end of a mile and a quarter in 2.12. Reremoana ran half a mile easily in 51 1-5. Aberfeldy and Tarleton ! jumped four hurdles well. Mandane and Avro ran seven in 1.29 i 3-5, finishing together. Luminant and Amor covered seven in 1.32, and Foot- ! fall, with Starflight over the last mile, | ran a mile and a-half in 2.38. finishing j well. | Paper Boy and Don Jose beat Fair i Exchange over six in I.IS, Piuthair ! and Clarinda went nine in 1.57 4-5. i and pulled up well. J Banket and Flicker easily beat Te Atiawa over half a mile in 50 3-5. J Count Cavour, after a slovr start,
went a mile and a-half in 2.39 4-5, Satrap going the last ten furlongs and finishing alongside. Amorist, Cornstalk and Cupid’s Bow left six furlongs behind in 1.18, and Money Order ran six, the last five in 1.3 1-5. Solferite and Malmsey went half a mile in 51, and Rascal _ beat Heisler easily over six in 1.16 4-5. Pure Gold and Tea Miss sprinted clown the straight. Countersign and Rotor ran six in 1.16 3-5, and Silver Paper beat Silver Arc over half in 50 3-5. Sir Roy broke away at the six furlongs, Moorland accompanying him over the last five in 1.3 4-5, Father O’Flynn easily beat Gladlight over six in 1.19 2-5.
