AUSSIE'S DAY AT EPSOM
EX-AUSTRALIAN horses had a day out recently at Alexandra Park, Machine Gun, Direct Morning and Tiger Salve capturing a stake. The former secured the big prize each day—a wonderful performance —and one that showed what a good pacer the son of Machine Brick is when well. Direct Morning and Tiger Salve were however saluting a New Zealand judge for the first time, and the victories were long overdue. Although all enthusiasts would like to see their sporting owners and persevering trainers have further successes, the pair will find it difficult in future to get on the roll of Honour. Had things gone right on the Aussie’s day, a fourth victory would have been recorded, and one accompanied by a big price. It only wanted Delavan Bill to leave correctly in his h#at and once in front, like the other pair, it would have been all over. But Bill didn’t leave and the total remains at three.
