SPANISH DICTATOR DENIES INTERVIEW
LONDON PAPER'S STORY MEETING WITH CHAMBERLAIN British Wireless—Press Assn.—Copyright Reed. 11 a.m. RUGBY, Tuesday. General Primo De Rivera, Prime Minister of Spain, yesterday issued a Press communique regarding the alleged interview with him. telegraphed | from Madrid to a London Sunday newsj paper, on the subject of his recent ! conversation with Sir Austen Chami berlain, British Foreign Secretary. The communique states that he has made no communication whatever on the subject of his talk with Sir Austen, either oral or written, since Ihe statement authorised by him at Palma, Majorca, immediately after the meeting. The communique added: "In Majorca the conversation, as announced there, was a general exchange of impressions on world polities, but no agreement was reached on any matter, nor was any concerted action taken.” W'hen in Paris Sir Austen Chamberlain informed correspondents that Geneva and Tangier were among the subjects touched upon. The British Foreign Secretary declared his hope that the co-operation of Spain in the League’s activities would before long again become available, and expressed the belief that if Franco-Sptiniah conversations on Tangier (which are still proceeding) reached an agreement, Britain would find it acceptable.—A. and N.Z.
