PAPAKURA FIRE BRIGADE
MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE A meeting of the Papakura Volunteer Fire Brigade Management Committee was held on Monday. October 3. The following members were present; Mr. H. E. McEntee (chairman). Messrs. A. Willis, G. C. Garlick, Dr. J. B. Page, J. E. Wood house, H. C. Thorburn, and the Rev. W. C. Wood. A letter was received from the Post and Telegraph Department advising that for the purpose of fire alarm the department was prepared to allow the installation of a single wire system at the rate of £ 4 10s a mile a year. The installation of the terminal apparatus would not be undertaken by the department. It was agreed to hold the matter in abeyance in the meantime. It was decided to write to the Church of England authorities thanklng them for allowing the use of the church bell for the purpose of sounding the fire alarms.
