Whangarei Footballer Killed.—Rex Flavill Telfer, aged 24, a well-known Whangarei footballer, has been killed in the bush in Queensland. Education Board’s Sympathy.—Sympathy with the relatives of the late Mr. William IT. Worsley-. formerly headmaster of Hamilton West School, was expressed by members of the Auckland Education Board to-day. Injured Boy Still Unconscious.— Frank Palmer, aged 13. who was knocked down by a motor-car on Sunday evening, is still unconscious and is in a serious condition. He received severe head injuries. Effects of Rheumatic Fever. —While preparing to leave home for a Dunedin picture Theatre, Mary Me Laugh - lan, single, aged 28, suddenly collapsed and died. She suffered a few years ago from rheumatic fever and at theinquest the verdict was .returned that death was due to heart failure following old rheumatic infection of the heart muscles. —Press Association. Safer for Traffic. —For £l3 the Mount Albert Borough Council was offered a few feet of land at the very acute corner of Vincent and Mount Albert Roads, in order that it might make the earner safer for traffic. The offer was accepted. Excursion Tickets for Sho-v.—The ! Railway Department is issuing excurt sion tickets to Christchurch to all ■ holders of .steamer tickets from "Wellington to Lyttelton, to enable them to attend the Royal Agricultural Show at Christchurch. Th ese tickets will be available from November 2 to 10, and for return until November 26. Little Girl Seriously Hurt.—Through ! being knocked down by 2 motor-car in Adelaide Road, Wellington, yesterday, j Joyce James, aged 6£ years, suffered J very serious injuries. The girl was taken to a grocer’s shop, outside of ; which the accident occurred. A doctor ordered her not to be removed, and at i» late hour she was still unconscious.— 1 —Press Association. Girl Scalded. —Painful injuries were received this morning by Miss Winifred: Sweeney, of Norfolk Street Ponsonby.
