PARLIAMENT GETS ON WITH WORK
PROGRESS WITH ESTIMATES SUMiMER TIME BEFORE COUNCIL (THE SUN'S Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON, To-day. Tiie railway statement is likely to make; its appearance in the House of Representatives toward the end of next week. It is proposed that the document should be tabled on Thursday and discussion left till railway estimates are being- considered on the following- day. Hopes are expressed by the Government that another two Fridays will see the last of the Consolidated Estimates. This will make clear the way for the Public Works Statement, which is accompanied by the Public Works Estimates. Good progress is likely to be made with Government bills this week, several of more or less importance being placed on the order paper for to-day. The Counties Amendament Bill, the Peel Forest Amendment, Noxious Weeds Amendment, the Institute of Horticulture, and the Fungicides and Insectidies Bills are the first in the order. A great part of the afternoon will be devoted *by the Government to ministerial replies to questions. Great interest is being shown in the Legislative Council’s attitude toward daylight-saving which will come up for second reading to-day. Its passage is likely.
