“LA MASCOTTE”
AMATEUR OPERATIC SOCIEH “La Mascotte,” the luek-bringer. i* certainly bringing luck to the Auckland Amateur Operatic Company. Nightly crowds have paid their tribute to the work of the company at His Majesty's, where the comic opera runs its cheery way. “La Mascotte” is decorative, tuneful and amusing, and is a welcome ciange from the 100 per cent, pep and Di:stk of the modern musical remedy, for. after all, it is more real musical comedy than comic opera. Picturesque settings and frocks make a pretty background for the lilting melodies which abound in the story. The operatic society is fortunate in possessing so many people who caa sing with ability. Its chorus too is admirable, and therein lies much oi the success of “La Mascotte.” Miss Ava Simson, Mr. Ernest Sneil, Mr. Dan Flood, Mi*. Lytileton and a host of others are all admirably cast.
