“BOXING BOUT,” SAYS TUNNEY WORLD’S TITLE CHICAGO, September L "X am a boxing enthusiast and I don’t believe in fighting,” said Gene Tunney, who is to meet Jack Dempsey for the world's heavy-weight litle, speaking before the Chicago City Council. “I dislike hearing our match spoken of as a Tight. I didn’t come here to flght. My job is to retain the world's boxing championship.” “Tunney will sure have to flght and fight hard. He won’t get away with mere boxing.” declared Dempsey, commenting on Tunney’s remarks. “Thousands of enthusiasts will pay £600,000 to see that spectacle, and what they want is flght. I am going to do my best to knock him out, or tear him apart.”
