RUSSIAN UNEMPLOYED

A HEAVY INCREASE TOTAL STILL GROWING Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright Reed. 12.10 p.m. LONDON, Monday. The Riga correspondent of “The Times” says the Soviet announces that the registered unemployed numbered 1.353,000 last year, compared with 948,000 in 1924. It admits that the possibilities of absorption are decreasing, and that unemployment is at present increasing owing to the reduction of State employees on the grounds of economy. The Don coal trust’s output during the past six months is expected to be 42,000,000 poods below the estimate, owing to a shortage of electricity, unsatisfactory credit, and the belated supply of equipment, also a shortage of qualified workers. —Times.
