ONE TREE HILL
MEETING OF ROAD BOARD On the motion of the chairman, Mr. R. G. Clark, the One Tree Hill Road * Board last evening decided to call tenders for the relaying of the drain emptying into the main storm-water drain in Ranfurly Avenue. This drain, the engineer reported, was blocked somewhere, due to the fact that it was laid at a lower level than the main dra.n, and consequently when the main drain is only running about half full all flow in this drain ceases.
The building Inspector reported that ‘ 20 building permits had been issued for dwellings, garages, sheds and ad- . ditions to a total value of £8,655 10s Since April 1 building progress in the board's district to a value of . £57,781 had been recorded. Work on paving Great South Road 11 is progressing favourably, according to the engineer’s report. The concrete slab has been laid full width on the Church Street-St. Ann’s Bridge section and concreting the remaining half width on the Harp of Erin-Greenpark Road section is well advanced. Work on Campbell Crescent has been completed with the exception of jointing the kerbs. It was decided to wait until the summer before doing this, as the ground is saturated with moisture c and the openings between the kerbs will give it a char.ce to drain out. A j path has been formed on the north side of Market Road, opposite St. Cuthbert’s, in front of new houses, and s coated with footpath scoria. The for- 1: mation of footpaths in Church Street, Neilson Street, Neilson Avenue. Rock- 1 field Road and Greenpark Road is * being carried out. I On the suggestion of the engineer, , the board decided to write the Onehunga Borough Council and endeavour to come to an understanding regard- : ing the maintenance of the three boun- *’ darv roads: Hauiti Road. Oranga 1 Avenue and Rockfield Road. One Tree 1 Hill offered to maintain Rockfield ° Road if Onehunga lDoks after the other two, this division being about 50-50. f A letter was received from the i newly-formed One Tree Hill Ratepayers’ Association asking the board : to arrange a day for a general collection of refuse ir the district. The v board is to arrange a day with its v refuse contractors, the date to be ad- o vertised later. The association also brought up the E question of providing playing areas in n the district. The board decided to ! I
rite to the Cornwall Park Trust -ith a view to securing- the use of part f Cornwall Park f«»r this j urpose. The tenders of Messrs. McCarter iros.. Ltd., for the kerbing and chanelling of Green Lane and Pukenui load, £548, were accepted.
