MAJESTIC
“THE UNDERSTANDING HEART” To-night will be the last and only chance Majestic patrons will have of viewing the brilliant and attractive programme offered at that theatre. Heading the bill is one of the pictorial triumphs of the year, the screen version of Peter B. Kyne’s “Understanding Heart,” a romantic drama of intense realism and power. It is a stirring picturisation of the popular Peter B. Kyne novel, directed for Metro-Goldwyn-M»yer by Jack Conway, with Joan Crawford, Rockliffe Fellowes, Carmel Myers and Francis X. Bushman, jun. It is a tale of tiie great outdoors, having for a background the immense timber lands of the Northwest or the United States Government preserves. The life of the forest ranger is well pictured. Joan Crawford, for whom big things are prophesied, does a profoundly moving bit of acting in this big picture. On the stage are t ne popular Campbell Boys, who delight all with, their clever interpretation of “Light Cavalry,” and their later numbers, which include “Baby Face,” and “I Miss My Swiss.” The Majestic’s new orchestra, under Mr. White ford-Waugh, provides a delightful musical programme, specially featuring "Tarantella ’ (Massenet). An interesting Majestic News, the* popular Eve’s Review, together with a New Zealand Government scenic, “The Garden of the South Seas,” and a hilarious animal comedy, “The Kangaroo Detective.” conclude a sparkling evening’s entertainment.
