FOOT SLIPPED ON CLUTCH
CROSSING FATALITY DEATH OF MOTORIST (From Our Otcn Correspondent.) PALMERSTON N., Wednesday. ! At the coroner’s inquiry held | this morning into the circumstances surrounding the death of Owen Sandilands Tyerman, who was killed in a level crossing accident on Friday when a car collided with a train, evidence showed that the driver of the train sounded his whistle when approaching the crossing, of which the deceased had a clear One witness expressed the opinion that deceased tried to pull up the car. but his foot slipped off the clutch. The coroner returned a verdict that deceased died of injuries received in a collision with a train, and stressed the fact that motorists should be more careful in negotiating crossings.
