PEA RIFLE ACCIDENT

LITTLE GIRL SHOT LEG BONE SHATTERED (From Our Own Correspondent.) OPOTIKI, To-day. A distressing accident occurred at Opotiki on Saturday which again illustrated the danger of allowing children to play with firearms. Mary Saunders, aged eight years, was shot with a pea-rifle through the leg by her brother “Bobby,” aged 10 years. The bullet struck the bone, which was badly shattered. The sufferer was conveyed to Opotiki Hospital. The little girl was to have attended her sister’s wedding as a flowergirl later in the day.
