PRINCESS
“CALIFORNIA OR BUST” The Princess is again the setting for a truly excellent bill of fare for patrons of the picture theatre, and the change of programme last night was in keeping with the usual attractive class of entertainment presented. Something that will please everyone is contained in “California or Bust,” in which romantic production George O’Hara portrays the leading role. The scene of the story is the Santa Fe trail over which a motor-car chase provides unlimited excitement. From start to finish incidents follow in rapid succession and a love story completes a delightful picture. How a young mechanic of inventive ability finds success and happiness in the deserts of Arizona can be taken as the theme of the story. It is well worth seeing. Helen Foster and an excellent cast support George O’Hara. Set a villain to catch a villain and one becomes a comedian. This is what happens in “The Land Beyond the Law,” the second feature drama. It is a First National production starring Kfen Maynard. The picture brings to light some actual historic facts, adding to the interest by the addition of romance and action. Dorothy Dwan plays opposite Maynard. while a host of other stars combine to make a great cast. Then comes Tarzan, the beautiful horse, which plays a no mean part in the production. To those who like action and romance, it is all supplied in this cleverly-worked-out drama, and still there is nothing that is not possible. The remainder of tiepicture programme is ' sufficient to make this a really first-class entertainment, which should draw big houses. An amusing Interlude is provided l*y Mr. Raymond Reeve, the New Zealand entertainer, who dispenses humout; in the form of song and story. Baby Kerr also contributed some j vocal numbers which met with ap- ! proval. The last shot of the Spanish-Ameri-can War was fired recently nearly 211 years after the close of the historic encounter in Cuba. It marked the filming of the last scene of “The Rough Riders,” Paramount’s big film epic, which is directed by Victor Fleming, The picture features Noah Beer?,*, George Bancroft. Charles Farrell. Charles Emmett Mack, Mary* Astor, Frank Hopper as Theodore Roosevelt and Col. Fred Lindsay. • * 9 Three additions to complete the cast of “Spring Fever.” William Haines initial starring picture for Metro-oom-wvn-Mayer were made last week. 1-ert ! uv.odrufT.
