RUGBY, Wednesday. All six swimmers—four women and two men—who yesterday attempted to swim the English Channel abandoned their attempts, in addition to the four whose failure was recorded yesterday. Dr. Siegfried Schiff, of Berlin, was taken from the water in a fainting condition after 3even hours, and Dr. Dorothy Logan abandoned the attempt J w ing to rough water after covering f miles and being in the water 14 ttours 20 minutes. Of those who made the attempt yes'erday, Miss MacLennan, who attempted the swim last year and regained in the water 25 hours, swam °h this occasion for 14 hours and eovered 13 miles. Miss Jamsen was •eized with cramp after swimming for IQUr and a-half hours. Miss Harding , as the water for seven and a-half and swam for the last hour in of coma. She collapsed as she as dragged into the tug and was un'onscious for an hour. Miss Hawke as far out of her course after seven aoar * the water.—A. and N.Z.
