Murdered By Lamas?
FEAR for missionaries THROUGH TIBET TO INDIA
Bj Catie. Press Association. —Copyright Reed. 9.5 a.m. LONDON, Tuesday. It is feared that a party of foreigners has been murdered by Lamas io West Szechwan. The party induded Mr. Matthewson, of Australia, a member of the China Inland Mission, who has not been heard of since from Peking includes a Mr Watkinson in the party, but the China Inland Mission representatives here have little doubt that it is Matthewson, who, with two companions, was advised to quit Kansu in June. They chose the Tibetan route to Ind a in preference to the coastwise rente. The message merely mentions that three or four were murdered. The absence of news of the missioned has aroused a fear that they ire the victims.
Mr. Matthewson was on his way home. —A. and N.Z.
