SOLDIERS’ CONCERT

TE AWAMUTU GATHERING The second annual concert in connection with the Te Awamutu branch of the Returned Soldiers’ Association took place at the Empire Theatre on Monday evening. There was a good attendance. The principal vocalists of the evening were Air. Arthur Ripley and Aliss Alma AlcGruer, of Auckland. Both were in splendid voice, and encores were insisted on. The Orphans’ Orchestra gave the opening selection, and an encore liad to be acceded to. Other artists who contributed to the enjoyment of the programme were; Aliss Edna Langmuir; Messrs S. Snook, Geo. Osborne, Bert Hey, W. Alills. The accompanists were Airs. Osborne, Aliss Langmuir, Alessrs A. J. Sinclair and H. Hey, who contributed in no small measure to the success of the concert. The lighting effects were also a pleasing feature.
