ANNUAL FESTIVAL
THE SEVENTH DAY VARIED PROGRAMME AN IMPROVED STANDARD Both in the standard of the work done and in the attendances a big improvement was registered at the Auckland Competitions yesterday. There was also a very satisfactory attendance this morning, when another interesting programme was presented. One of the principal features in the evening was the impromptu speech. The subject, “Should Barmaids be Reinstated?” provided the competitors with a good opportunity for bright argument, and it was fully availed of. With one exception, the speakers were all in favour of tile suggestion. The recalls in the vocal, instrumental, elocutionary, and dancing classes were all of a good standard, and a very enjoyable entertainment was provided.
