OTAHUHU BAND
LOAN FOR INSTRUMENTS A meeting convened by the borough council members of the Otaliuhu Muiricipal Band Committee took place in the council chambers last night. The chair was occv ied by Mr. Henry Hall and there was a fair muster of bandsmen and ex-bandsmen present. The business of the meeting was to consider the position of the band regarding new instruments and uniforms, and eventually it was decided to disband and form a new band. Two firms supplied quotes for sets of instruments, one (Boosey set) at £760, and another (Conn) at £450. With cash in hand and property it was found that about £ 500 would be required to purchase the Boosey set and new uniforms. A resolution was passed that the borough council place a proposal before the ratepayers to sanction a loan of £ 500 for the purchase of instrument's and uniforms.
