WHO'S FOR BIGLAN?

POLITICAL GOSSIP MR. WARING FAVOURED SEVERAL POSSIBLE STARTERS | (THE SUN'S Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, To-day. The presence of Mr. A. H. Waring. chairman of the late Hon. R. F. Bollard's Election Committee, in the Parliamentary Buildings incites the lobby gossip to comment ■ upon his chances for selection as Government nominee for the Raglan seat. The indications are that he is at least being considered by the Prime Minister and his party as a likely man to contest the by-election. His work in connection with past elections has proved his allegiance to the Reform cause, and the party probably is satislied that his candidature would fulfil the Government’s requirements. Other names mentioned as possible starters are:—Mr. Campbell Johnstone, chairman of the Raglan County Council; Mr. Jack Bollard, a son of the late Minister; Mr. Walter Seavill, of Waingaro, a member of the Raglan County Council and a director of the Waikato Farmers’ Auctioneering Company; Mr. Dynes Fulton, chairman of directors of the New Zealand Cooperative Dairy Company. Ltd.; Mr. J. R. Fow, Mayor of Hamilton; Mr. P. G. R. Taylor, of Onewhero; and Mr. E. H. Northeroft, solicitor, of Auckland.

The name of Mr. S. C. G. Lye is associated with the Nationalist Party’s intentions, and Mr. E. Piggott is spoken of for the Labour Party. Both of these men opposed Mr. Bollard at the last election.
