HENDERSON TOWN BOARD
CONTROL OF SERVICES
The citizens’ committee called attention to the necessity for the establishment of a metropolitan board to deal with such public services as electric lighting, water supply and transport facilities, at a meeting of the Henderson Town Board during the week. The matter was favourably considered by the board and the chairman said that unless something was done in this direction Henderson would be ultimately absorbed in the Greater Auckland scheme. In his opinion this was extremely undesirable. It was decided to send a letter of thanks to the committee and to discuss the matter more fully at a future meeting. The general cleanliness of the town was good, reported the sanitary inspector, and no cases of infectious diseases had been notified. The Waitemata County Council wrote asking assistance in defraying tho cost of erecting boundary posts in the district. It Was decided to offer £lO for the purpose. The tender of £2OB 17s received from Messrs. Gibbon and Critchfield for plastering the exterior of the town hall was accepted. The foreman reported that the footpath on Te Atatu Road had been formed, but that about 100 yards of shell or scoria would be required to complete the work. Ten yards of shell had been used on the footpaths in William Street. Valley Road and Edmonton Road. Twelve yards of metal had been placed on View, South and Valley Roads. All water mains had been flushed and seven meters had been put in. Accounts amounting to £ 405 9s lOd were passed for payment.
