CAT AND DOG

Give them time, and cats and dogs come to as good an understanding as dogs and dogs or cats and cats. The fact is that we see in the relations between adult cats and dogs something of the sympathy and understanding that more commonly mark human relations. Bring cat and dog together in one home, give them thoroughly to know each other, and sympathy between them becomes perfect- In one such house there lived a Pomeranian dog and a sleek tomcat, and the two were inseparable friends. A cruel misfortune overtook the dog, practically destroying the sight of both its eyes. From that time forth the cat became more than ever tender toward the sufferer, and when the dog trotted out into the garden at night, having difficulty in finding the way back into the house, the cat would jump off its warm cushion, go out in search of the lost one, and with an expressive mew return with him, shoulder to shoulder, guiding him out of the darkness to his accustomed place by the fire. We cannot begin too early to round off our tasks with a certain completeness. When the temptation comes to throw down some unfinished work that is the hour to take ourselves in hand, lest we be found among those who. when their call comes, leave behind them only unfinished things.
