RESTORATION OF CIVIL RIGHTS
PARLIAMENT PETITIONED A MILITARY DEFAULTER (THE SUN'S Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, Tuesday. It was while he was working to support his mother that Albert Hyland, of 31 Church Street, Auckland, was fined for the second time for failure to attend drill, and consequently deprived of his civil rights. He states in a petition to Parliament that he is unable to pay the second fine. During 1925 he did not miss a parade, and it was because he was supporting his mother that he could not attend when proceeded against. He asks for restoration of his civil rights and a remission of the fine to avoid going to prison.
