A GOOD WIN

NEW ZEALAND CRICKETERS GLAMORGAN FAILS BEATEN BY 206 RUNS THE New Zealand cricketers inflicted defeat on Glamorganshire by 206 runs, in the match at Cardiff. Clay, the Glamorgan captain, made a fine effort to save the day, scoring 115; but his team was dismissed for 199, where it required 406 runs to win. By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright

Reed. 9.5 a.m. LONDON, Tuesday. New Zealand was 344 runs ahead at the end of the second day’s play, Lowry did not declare. McGirr and Mills scored steadily. The former was lucky to escape being run out, Sullivan fumbling. The seventh wicket added 56 in 45 minutes. New Zealand declared the second innings closed with seven

wickets down for 205. McGirr was bowled in attempting to force the pace. Glamorgan never looked like coping with the difficult situation. Three men were out for 47 at the time of the lunch adjournment. The Glamorgan captain, Clay, made a great but unsuccessful effort to retrieve the position. He scored his initial century in first-class cricket. Hills helped his captain to add 32 for the fourth wicket, then the rot set in. Blunt was most effective, taking two wickets in one over. Clay reached the century in 135 minutes. He made 115 out of the 149 obtained while he was in. He drove splendidly, hitting 16 fours. The tourists fielded and bowled most keenly. The attendance was 200. Details: NEW ZEALAND First Innings C. C. Dacre, c Sullivan, b Arnott 0 C. S. Dempster, not out 167 R. C. Blunt, c Hill, bE. Davies . . 89 J. E. Mills, b Arnott 1 M. L.
