AN ABSCONDING DEBTOR

OVER £5,000 OWED HOTEL PROPRIETOR BANKRUPT Described as an absconding debtor, Roderick Gordon-Griffith was this morning adjudged bankrupt by Mr. Justice Herdman. r T'HB application was made by Mr. Mahoney on behalf of some of the creditors. Counsel stated that the debtor owed somewhere in the vicinity of £5,000. He had been proprietor of the Mansions Private Hotel, off Symonds Stret, for some time, and had about 70 guests. Without any care, he had contracted debts, possessed one of the best motor-launches on the harbour, owned a motor-car, and had bought a piano valued at £750, on which £6OO was still owing. When approached by liis creditors, he had absconded to Wellington, and was in that city for some time. It •was now thought that he was in Sydney. His Honour accordingy adjudged him bankrupt.
