ARAPUNI

Sir, — In the July edition I notice a paragraph devoted to Arapuni, wherein it is stated that members of the strike executive have been expelled from that august body the New Zealand Workers’ Union. It is my duty to inform you that this statement is incorrect. The fact is that we have been suspended only from official positions, pending the more mature consideration of the question by Air. Cook, and our beloved national executi\ e. W ith regard to the meeting held at Arapuni on Sunday, 17tli ult., not only was an emphatic vote of confidence passed in the old executive, biA also the men flatly declined to elect new officials, and voiced their intention not to contribute another penny to the New Zealand Workers’ Union until the suspensions have been lifted and we are once again permitted to occupy our rightful place in the trades union world. The memory of that meeting will be ample Recompense for any little good I have done or may still be able to do for the toilers of the Waikato. I would remind you that since the strike three meetings i have been held at Arapuni, and at

each I was accorded a vote of thanks, but should any doubt remain in the mind of the public as to the feelings of the members, I invite your correspondent, Mr. J. G. McLean, to come to Arapuni and help to supervise a ballot. Meanwhile, the interests of the men will be protected by a dulyappointed committee of ten. JOHN KELLY, President, Provisional Executive. Arapuni.
