ADDINGTON FIXTURE NOTES ON CANDIDATES AUCKLANDERS LOOKING WELL (Special to THE SUH. ) CHRISTCHURCH, Monday. The course proper at Addington was unfit for work this morning, but the outside track was in fair order, and trainers availed themselves of the opportunity to step their candidates along. The times registered were of no consequence, the work being a preliminary to some rousing essays, which will be indulged in during the next few days. E. C. McDermott had Nourmahal out. The chestnut mare is nice and bright, and with a couple of fast tasks she will be well forward for the meetNipper infused a lot of ginger into a couple of circuits in harness. He is big in condition. AUCKLAND’S CONTINGENT Lady Dunmore was jogged in the saddle. She is a speedy looking customer, and is as fit as a fiddle. J. Shaw sent Jewel Pointer and Amaris about a mile. Jewel Pointer is in excellent fettle, and must be taken into consideration for the big event on Saturday. Amaris looks an improved horse, but requires good conditions. Wallroon put on a lot of side while doing several circuits without the hopples on. He has made remarkable improvement since going to Auckland, and is now numbered among the good horses. TORRENT OF SPEED Bold Bill and Homer acted courageously in a bout over about a mile. Both strode along in pleasing style. Audobell is carrying more condition than ever he has done. He was given judicious work this morning. Double Event, with A. D. Chapman in the saddle, displayed a torrent of speed. If he would only do his best with the colours up, it would not be a race. BACK TO FORM A pleasing piece of work was that of Logan Chief and Peter Bingen. Logan Chief led his stablemate all the way, and was going the better of the two when they were eased up, after going approximately a mile and threequarters. Logan Chief bears a firm healthy appearance, and will run a good race on Saturday. WEST COASTER WELL Golden Devon went a few rounds and appeared to enjoy every stride of his essay. He was never better. Red Oak, Audominion and Springtime were associated in a spin over two miles, and all worked nicely. Locanda Mac’s effort was restricted to three-quarter pace. AN EARLY WINNER Logan Park went a few rounds in a convincing easy style. He is very well and should be among the money winners at the August fixture. Napland, Kyana and Young Blake left the peg together, but with .lust over two rounds compassed Kyana was pulled up. Napland and Young Blake went on to complete the assignment in pleasing fashion. IN GOOD FETTLE
Parkwood and Fight Ever were keen to increase the pace. They are in pretty good fettle to receive the final touches for the new season’s contests. Bridget Galindo trotted over a few rounds. She is bright and perky and moved as if she were on springs. S .M. August was a spectator at Addington this morning. His two horses. Nelson Fame and Doctor Dillon, will arrive from Wellington tomorrow. TROTTING FIXTURES August 6. 10. 12—N.Z. Metropolitan Trotting Club. October I—Wellington Trotting Club.
