DRAINAGE LOAN
MAUNGAWARA DISTRICT Improvements are to be carried out to the 10ft drain and subsidiary drains at Orini by the Mangawara River Board. A loan of £ 5,000 has been raised. The proposals are to deepen and straighten the main drain, which has a length of 41 miles, and cleanout the subsidiary drains. The area affected totals 13,666 acres, and includes the Henry returned soldiers’ settlement. The capital value of the whole property is £128,361, and the population 200. In the present state of the weather nothing can be done, but as soon as dry conditions prevail tenders will be called.
