NEWMARKET TAXIS
ARRANGING STANDS QUESTION REVIEWED Arising out of the application of the Red Top Taxi Service for a stand for three cars and a telephone cabinet in Broadway, the? question of taxi stands in the borough came under discussion at a meeting of the Newmarket Borough Council on Wednesday evening. In the course of the discussion Cr. Townsend was reputed t.o have complained that the Checker Cab Company had already been granted a stand and had misused the privilege. It now appears that t.he complaint was not voiced by Cr. Townsend, but by another councillor. After some discussion it was resolved that in view of the new applications received, the whole question of taxi stands be referred to the Streets Committee to report at the next meeting of the council.
