IN A BLAZING CAR
ACTRESS’S NARROW ESCAPE Flames suddenly enveloped the car in which Miss Julia Neilson, the wife of Mr. Fred Terry, was driving home to Hampstead from Richmond after playing in “The Wooing of Catherine Parr.” She jumped clear in time to escape injury and rescued two children who were travelling with her. The fire followed a collision with another car in Hamilton Terrace, St. John’s Wood. The petrol tank on Miss Neilson’s car burst, and flames leapt up immediately, the occupants, including the chauffeur, having very narrow escapes. The fire brigade was called, but the back part of the car was destroyed. Miss Gladys Moncrieff, who was playing the leading part in “The Blue Mazurka” at Daly’s Theatre, was injured in a motor accident when returning home from a matinee. The taxi in which she was riding was crossing Oxford Street, when it came into collision with a privately.-owned car. Miss Moncrieff was thrown to the floor of the cab and severely bruised.
