DINNER TO CANADIANS

FUNCTION IN WELLINGTON MEDAL FOR G. ANDERSON WELLINGTON, To-day. The Chief Justice, Sir Charles Skerrett, presided at a dinner to the Canadian soccer team on Saturday night. The Prime Minister, the Hon. J. G. Coates, Sir Charles Statham, Speaker of the House of Representatives, and Mr. H. E. Holland were also present. Mr. Coates spoke on the value of visits by athletic teams to one another's countries, and hoped that this visit would help to foster trade with Canada. The volue of trade was increasing as it was. Both countries had a great heritage to develop. The Canadians presented badges of life membership to the Prime Minister and Sir Charles Statham and to New Zealand soccer officials. Alderman Adam, manager of the Canadian team, awarded the medal given for the best New Zealand player in the match to G. Anderson (Otago), the New Zealand fullback.
