PAPATOETOE ORPHANS
ENTERTAIN REV. P. c. DAVIS
The inmates and staff of the Papatoetoe Orphans’ Home entertained their chaplain, the Rev. P. C. Davis and his fiancee, Miss R. M. Gardiner, at the institute on Saturday afternoon, when the guests of honour were the recipients of several beautiful feifts. On behalf of the staff, Miss Ada Hooker, the matron, presented them a very handsome dinner gong, in the form of a brass bell, suspended between beautifully-carved supports. The junior members of the staff were represented by Miss Alma Cooper, who Presented an ornamental brass card tray, and from the young inmates of the institute came a pretty honey jar "ith silver mountings, from the hands of little Huia Brown. Frances Jones presented Miss Gardher with a pretty bouquet of violets. The Rev. P. C. Davis replied on behalf of himself and his financee, and said he was sure that whenever he hoard the gong ring or saw the other beautiful gifts he would always have kind recollections of the donors.
