THIS MORNING’S GAMES WIN FOR SACRED HEART Sacred Heart met Grammar B on the Outer Domain this morning, the ground being in very bad order, and consequently the game was mostly confined to the forwards. Both teams showed fine form and for the first half was very even, but in the second half Sacred Heart’s sound handling enabled the backs to show their superiority. From a scrum in mid-field, Hassan, at half, opened up a pretty movement, passing between the backs enabling Hura to score a fine try, which Mallett converted. Sacred Heart, 5; Grammar B. 0. Shortly after, Smith, who had been playing a fine game at five-eighth, made a brilliant opening, and, after drawing the defence, transferred to Trigg, who scored. The try -was not converted, and the game ended: Sacred Heart 8 Grammar B 0 Mr. H. V. Moore was the referee ST. STEPHEN’S V. GRAMMAR These two teams met on the Domain this morning in a match that was very even and closely contested. The ground was heavy, and play was mostly confined td the forwards. A feature of the game was the safe handling and perfect line kicking of both fullbacks, who on the day's play, could hardly have been excelled by Nepia himself. In the first half the only score was a beautiful dropped goal by Fraser. Grammar 4 St. Stephen’s 0 Wilson, for Grammar, scored from a forward scramble, the try was not converted, and the half time score was Grammar 7 St. Stephen’s 0 In the final quarter. Garlick, who had been playing a fine game on the wing, after a fine run in-passed to Fraser, who scored between the posts for Cashimore to convert. Grammar, 12; St Stephen’s, 0. In his own twenty-five Te Maru picked up in the loose, and side-stepped and dummied his way right through the Grammar team, to score between the posts. The game ended without fqrther score.
