LESS RAIN THAN USUAL JUNE BELOW AVERAGE Although last night's downpour, on top of a month of intermittent rain, might lead Mr. Man-About-Town to think otherwise, the first half of 1927 has been drier than usual. A CTUALLY, the six-monthly periot 1 ' just completed is the seconf driest within the last five years. The total rainfall this year was only 25.41 inches. In 1925 it was 21.17 inches, to the end of June. In spite of the dismal weather conditions lately th* rainfall this month has been only 4.5? inches, which is below the June average of 4.71 inches. Whatever Mr. Man-About-Town may think about Auckland's share of “the gentle rain from Heaven,” Mr. Dairyman is highly pleased with the welldistributed rainfall w-hich has had a beneficial effect upon butter-fat production.
