MAORI KILLED
BUSHFELLING ACCIDENT CRUSHED BY TREE LIVED FOR TEN HOURS Press Association. DARGAVILLE, To-day. MAORI named Pene Cassidy, while engaged in bushfelling at V. Trounson’s bush, Maropiu, yesterday, met with an accident which ended fatally at the Tekopura Hospital last night. Deceased and a gang of men were engaged on scarfing a tree, when it split, and a piece knocked Cassidy down. He fell under the tree. His mates freed him and _d him for a mile out to a sledge. He was then taken on the train to Dargaville, thence by car to hospital, where it was found that he had received such terrible injuries that little ifope was held for his recovery. He lived for ten hours, however, and died later in the evening, Cassidy is a married man with a family. An inquest will be held today".
