DENTIST FOUND DEAD
GAS MASK ON FACE VERDICT OF SUICIDE A verdict that death was the result of suicide by gas poisoning was returned by the coroner, Mr. W. R. McKean, S.M., at the inquest this morning on the death of a dentist, James Alexander Campbell, aged about 35. who was found dead in his surgery in Great North Road with a gas tube in his mouth. A woman who was employed to clean deceased’s rooms said about 2 p.m. last Saturday she found Campbell’s body in an armchair with a gas mask over the face. There was a gas tube to the mask and the gas was turned on. She turned off the supply and went for Dr. Lamb who could only pronounce life extinct. In a letter to a friend Campbell said he was worried over financial and domestic matters and he was troubled by ill-health. He implied his intention to take hia life.
