ALBURNIAS WEAKENING HIKURANGI COAL SELLING Alburnias are weakening and the market closed to-day Id to 2d beloAv yesterday’s parity. No sales were put through. Kawaraus are also depressed with buyers 4d below yesterday’s offer. The banking and insurance sections are firm, with a steady demand for most parcels. Better inquiry is now registered for Hikurangi Coal and both issues of preference shares have been dealt with since yesterday’s mid-day call. Government bonds and local body debentures are in good tone with fewer sellers quoting.
